About Us

In October 1989 the doors of Barbara Jean’s Furniture & Carpet opened to the public. Chuck & Barbara "Jean" Squires together with the help of daughter Bernadette Cooper and her husband Brad Cooper, brought to Wayne County quality home furnishings and Carpet at New York states lowest discount prices.

Only after a few short years the showroom here grew to a massive 100,000 square foot. Becoming one of the largest selections of furniture New York has ever seen underneath 1 roof. With all this they have managed to also keep the small town and close family friendly atmosphere their customers have come to know, love and trust.

They take pride in their selection, Partnering with many manufactures of bedding & bedrooms, dining rooms, upholsteries, carpeting and even accessories. Quality names such as Ashley Furniture, Flexsteel, Vaughan Bassett, and Mohawk. That's just to name a few.

They have maintained, in good standing, a membership with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) with a solid A+ rating. That is no easy feat for most furniture stores.

They continue still today TO strive and succeeded to make the furniture shopping experience fun with large annual events. Including but not limited to Chili Cook-off’s, Irish coffee, strawberry shortcakes, apple give away, and various holiday celebrations. Along with all this fun we maintain the best quality at the lowest prices.

They are here to help provide you the means to make your residence a home not a house, offering various services. Together with their knowledgeable staff they have helped educate their customers about the furniture & bedding or carpeting they are selecting. They answer the needs of the client with the items they want and need, not the ones that make the quick sale or the best profit. The staff and Barbara herself have been seen in many homes in and out of the area helping customers find just the right look to make a house a home.

No job is too big or too small for this store or its staff..... So as the saying goes, "COME ON DOWN".
